Substantial reduction in visa nomination allocations for South Australia’s GSM.

Recent Changes in Visa Nomination Allocations for South Australia's Skilled Migration Program

In a recent development, the Commonwealth Government has communicated its decision to substantially decrease the visa nomination quotas for South Australia's General Skilled Migration (GSM) initiative in the upcoming 2023-24 period.

This decision entails an allocation of 2,300 nomination slots, marking a notable contrast to the 8,800 slots granted to the state in the preceding 2022-23 phase.

Despite these limitations, the state government reaffirmed their "...commitment to bolstering South Australia's priority industries remains unwavering. We will strategically channel the limited nomination opportunities to support critical sectors like Health and Defence, where attracting skilled migrants from overseas is imperative..."

Stay tuned with us for more detailed insights into the 2023-24 GSM program, as we will be unveiling further information as soon, they are delivered. Additionally, the processing of GSM applications from the 2022-23 financial year is currently underway and will be concluded in the approaching weeks.

In alignment with the national approach, South Australia will not be allocated any nomination places for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) in the upcoming 2023-24 cycle.

However, it's important to note that business or investor migrants holding a provisional visa (subclass 188) can seek nomination for the extension stream or the permanent (subclass 888) visa in the forthcoming 2023-24 period, as these categories remain uncapped.
